These past couple weeks I’ve been learning to make journey daybooks. So far it has been a great experience, and I can already see the changes in my work. Although it is a lot of information to take in at once, I really enjoy making these pages. I can say one thing - thank God for Mimi because otherwise I would never have had the opportunity to have so much fun. Deanna

Mary Anna & Julius
Mary Anna writes: I painted this in my art class for Julius who was also in the class (mostly a bunch of old white ladies!). He said he did not have a picture of himself so I took a picture of him and then painted this portrait. I used only four colors. It was really fun to do and he is adorable! Thought you might enjoy seeing it.
3 June 2010 - Alumni Travel Pages
Last week Anne visited her granddaughters in North Carolina. For Anne, these visits are the hightlights of her life. Anne sent me the following pagesthat she made last week.
1 May 2010 - Small Boat Meet in Cedar Key
This first posted page is by Patty, who used the process for healing on this active day.
Mary Anna’s Pages
Mary Anna describes:
The first image is a map of a November trip to Morocco…2009 showing the route of our journey.
The following images are from my very tiny journal and were made in the Dominican Republic in February 2010. My journeys were made with groups not JDB-oriented so I had to work hard to get anything done. The second DR watercolor is supposed to be of a mother whale and her baby with a guardian male whale under the water at the very bottom of the page.
16 April 2010 - The Tench Building Artists Studios, Gainesville FL
Anne Seraphine treated ten of our Journey Daybook alumni to a rich experience of dining alfresco, drawing from the model, and sharing pages at her studio that is located in Downtown Gainesville. The Tench Building, located on Main Street, around the corner from the Hippodrome, was dedicated to the arts by the city of Gainesville in the 1990’s. The first floor is the home of the Sweetwater Print Cooperative. The studios are located on the second floor and these are opened on the last Friday of each month for Art Walk. Anne rents one of these studios and generously hosted our gathering.
The first image was made by Ann Case. Ann is new to making journey daybooks, but she loved the experience of working from the live model.

18 March 2010 - Rainbow Springs State Park, near Dunnellon FL
I will post journey daybook pages as they are sent to me. You can see my page on my blog.
Ann worked quietly by herself and made 3 pages, reflecting her experience at Rainbow Springs
19 February 2010- Quilt Show at The Florida Museum of Natural History
This is a taste of some of the work we made on Friday. The wonderful inspired quilts that broke the stereotypes of traditional quiltmaking apparently caused some of our Journey Daybook members to brake out of their typical styles. Congratulations, everyone!
To the left, Anne’s page where she tangles the elements. To the right is Patty’s page. Patty, a quilter, herself, paints her own quilt. Below, Ann works outside the museum, focusing on the walls.
10 July 2009 - Howard Powell’s Gulfside Garden

13 March 2009
This is the first Journey Daybook Adventure (now called a RETREAT) held in conjunction with Central Florida Community College. Another first: the facilators switched jobs. Mary Anna did the “Overview,” Barbara did the “Painting” focus, and I did the section on “Collage.” We all enjoyed the beautiful outside weather.

Beautiful picture…and pages on Peggy’s blog. Hmmmm….this is all very difficult. I read the part on blog hints…sort of….and didn’t understand. Maybe the nice teachers in my apple class and help me understand this. You know…what is the first step…the ones before picture on the right and text on left….right and left of what….or whatever. Maybe others are getting this quicker than I am!

So many beautiful images. Each journey-day-booker has her own voice. I was especially moved by the three Obama inauguration pages, the whole feeling of making these pages on site in the cold–the thousands of people all around. Also the images of Hedy’s farm–so lovely–along with the words that helped us know that such a life takes grit and day after day hard work. Really this whole blog section, the Journey Day Book Web site and Peggy’s site are knock-out good. Bravo! Ginnah
