I have spent some time this afternoon perusing the Internet, relooking at sites that I haven’t visited in a long time. Four of these sites may be of special interest to Journey Daybook alumni. Urban Sketchers is an International group of artists, who, like us, draw and paint plein air as they travel through life. Individually, we could certainly join this group. The site is huge. There are announcements of workshops, sketchcrawls (when group members get together at the same time to draw), and exhibits. Take a look. You may find lots of inspiration. Look for the next sketchcrawl. There should be 4 of them in 2013. Mary Anna has participated with Sketchcrawl journal keepers in past years.

The second group of sites are of plein air painters, and there are several sites that may be of interest. Membership in these groups is for painters (and we are painters!,) who may work in watercolor, oil, or acrylic. The sites have announcements of “paint-outs” when artists meet together, like “sketch crawls” to work. I have posted links to three of these sites – one to which I belong – Plein Air Florida, a large national group – Plein Air Painters of America, and an international group – International Plein Air Painters Worldwide. Susan recently studied in Sarasota with J. R. Baldini, who is a founding member of this last group. I hope that you enjoy exploring all these sites. May they provide inspiration to you as they did to me this afternoon.

And . . . You might think about applying to be part of a Paint Out to celebrate International Paint-Out Day in Mendocino California September 9 -14, 2013. Follow this link!

And, again . . . My last note – The 39th International Sketch Crawl Day is April 13 – the very day of our JDB Adventure at the Haile Farmers’ Market with Jean as hostess! Let’s make a commitment to copy our individual pages and post them to this site and the Global Urban Sketchers Page on Facebook. I can help with this; although, unfortunately, I won’t be at Haile on the 13th.
